RE/MAX Makes a Difference for Kids like Lennox
Meet Lennox: a happy, smart, always smiling 4 and 1/2-year-old who shines in every activity… from dancing in her first recital, to playing with friends, singing around the house to even riding her bike!
Three and a half years ago Lennox received the diagnosis of Stage 4 Neuroblastoma, just a week shy of her first birthday. Lennox’s symptoms varied from fatigue, complete changes in demeanor, and periodic crying through the night. When Lennox could no longer use her legs, an emergency room visit and an MRI showed a solid tumor pushing against her spinal cord. Additional tests and biopsies confirmed her Neuroblastoma diagnosis, which progressed into her bone marrow, as well.
Lennox’s family acknowledges how fortunate they were then and now to have a facility with renowned doctors and staff there for their daughter through her chemo treatments. “We’ve been fortunate so far to not have any setbacks. Lennox is three years NED (No Evidence of Disease), and we hope and pray that she continues on this path towards survivorship. It is not lost on us that we have our sweet girl with us today because of the treatments and care that she was given at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. We owe everything to Dr. Meade and the 9C/9B staff.” Lennox continues to see oncology, endocrinology and cardiology specialists at UPMC to monitor her health and development following these treatments.
As Lennox dances in her first recitals and learns how to ride her first bike, one member of Lennox’s family works to support UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh in a special way. Lennox’s grandmother, Deb, is a local RE/MAX associate that partners with UPMC Children’s Hosptial to support patients like her granddaughter. The RE/MAX Miracle Home and Miracle Property Program provides RE/MAX associates an opportunity to regularly donate to their local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital, and here in Pittsburgh that’s UPMC Children’s! Once an associate completes a transaction, they make a direct donation which engages their clients while also creating a positive impact on the community.
Since 1992, RE/MAX affiliates have supported their local Children’s Miracle Network hospitals, raising more than $197 million in total donations. Deb and thousands more RE/MAX associates allow patients, like Lennox, to thrive. Thanks to partners like RE/MAX, Lennox lives her best four-year-old life and, with her grandmother and the rest of her support team, always looks forward to the next birthday she gets to celebrate.
